Currency Update

We have addressed the issue of some currency symbols not showing up in some browsers like Internet Explorer and the browser in Palm’s webOS.

If you had changed your currency to say, Euros or Pounds, you may have seen just a little square box where your currency symbol should have been. All you need to do is head back into My Profile and set your currency again.

Please let us know if you continue to have any problems.

Weekly Summary Email

Weekly Financial Summary Email

Weekly Financial Summary Email

Starting Monday, January 18th, you can have a weekly summary of your Expensology account emailed to you once a week.

The summary includes information similar to your account dashboard — a budget summary, and expense and bills summaries.

This report will go out every Monday morning to users who have opted in.

This summary is especially useful for those who might not sign into Expensology as often as they should.  If you log into Expensology every day or several times a week, you may want to disable this report.

You can turn this report ON of OFF under “My Profile”.

Turning this report on for your user account will not turn it on for other Spenders on your Account.

They can get the same report sent to them though by turning it on in their own profile.

Bill Reminder Changes

In order to streamline the way Bill Reminders are sent from Expensology.com, we are removing the option to specify the time of day your reminders are sent.  Reminders will now be sent bright and early at 7am EST starting Monday, January 11th, 2010.

In this way, we can better ensure that you only get one Bill Reminder email per day from Expensology with a summary of due and upcoming bills.

Comments and questions are welcome below.

Mobile Access

We’ve made a few changes to Expensology’s Mobile site.

To take advantage of the Android/iPhone/Palm webOS boom, we’ve optimized ExpMobile for larger screens.

Check out the screenshots below, then try it on your phone — http://expensology.com/mobile — and let us know how it goes and what type of phone you are using.

Dashboard

Expensology has a new Dashboard!
You may have noticed when you sign into your free Expensology account, that instead of being taken straight to your expenses, you are now taken to a Dashboard.

Expensology Dashboard

Expensology Dashboard

The Dashboard is a quick snapshot of your Expensology account.

It shows expenses entered in the past 5 days, a chart of your expenses by category for the month, your budget for the month, and a summary of overdue and upcoming bills.

In case the Dashboard is not useful to you, we will soon add a feature to the “My Profile” page to have Expensology take you back to your expenses when you log in.

Let us know what you think.

Currencies

A note on Currencies in Expensology — we have added the ability for users to change the currency displayed to their local currency.  The idea though, is that it is really just a symbol.  We don’t do any calculations using exchange rates.

That’s not really the point is it?  If you live in the UK and your primary currency is the Euro, and you go out for lunch with a friend and spend £45.98, then that’s all you really need to know right?  You don’t care how much that is in American dollars do you?  Or Mexican Pesos?

Let us know if you disagree with this line of thinking.
